Description The Hackitsune ESP32-C5 Dual-Band WiFi Expansion Module for Flipper Zero is an advanced GPIO add-on designed to extend your device with next-generation dual-band wireless research capabilities and modular hardware expansion. Building on the same flexible design as the ESP32-S3 module, the ESP32-C5 introduces 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi support, along with WiFi 6 (802.11ax) capabilities, enabling more advanced wireless experimentation and broader protocol coverage. This allows researchers to work across both traditional and modern wireless environments using a single compact module. The Hackitsune ESP32-C5 module also features an upgraded power architecture specifically designed to improve stability and RF performance when operating advanced dual-band wireless hardware. The design incorporates ferrite-bead filtered and separated power rails to isolate sensitive RF circuitry, ESP core power, and expansion interfaces from electrical noise generated by high-frequency wireless activity and external modules. This enhanced filtering approach is particularly important for ESP32-C5 based devices due to the increased complexity of simultaneous 2.4GHz, 5GHz, WiFi 6, and future 802.15.4 operations. High-frequency RF activity and rapid current transients can introduce switching noise, voltage ripple, and interference into shared power rails. By using dedicated filtered rails with ferrite isolation and local decoupling, the module achieves improved wireless stability, cleaner signal performance, reduced interference between peripherals, and greater reliability when using external SPI expansion hardware. In addition to WiFi, the ESP32-C5 platform supports emerging and low-power wireless protocols such as Zigbee (802.15.4) and Thread, providing future potential for expanded firmware support and research into IoT communication ecosystems. The module ships with ESPMarauder firmware pre-installed, making it ready for immediate use while remaining flexible for future firmware development. Like its ESP32-S3 counterpart, the module includes integrated SPI expansion contacts, allowing connection of additional Hackitsune SPI modules (400Mhz, NRF24) and other embedded tools. (Flipper Zero not included.) Technical Requirements Flipper Zero with GPIO access Compatible firmware (pre-installed ESPMarauder or GhostESP) USB connection for firmware flashing Firmware Pre-installed: ESPMarauder firmware Supported firmware options: Custom ESP32-C5 firmware Firmware can be installed or updated using the Hackitsune Web Flasher. Recommended Setup For the best experience, we recommend pairing this module with Momentum firmware for your Flipper Zero. This provides improved compatibility, expanded functionality, and a smoother integration experience when working with external modules. How to Use Attach the module to the Flipper Zero GPIO header. Enable 5V GPIO output within your Flipper firmware settings if powering directly from the Flipper. Alternatively, connect USB power directly to the module for independent power delivery. Power on the device. Use Flipper applications or connect via USB for direct interaction. Flash or update firmware if required using the Hackitsune Web Flasher. Connect additional SPI module as needed. Important Usage Notes Use supported firmware for full feature compatibility External modules should be connected correctly to avoid damage Some advanced protocol support depends on firmware availability The ESP32-C5 requires adequate and stable power for reliable dual-band wireless operation 5V GPIO power must be enabled on the Flipper when not externally powered via USB Advanced ferrite-filtered power rails are used to minimise RF interference and improve wireless stability Preventative Measures to Mitigate Risk of Use Use wireless research capabilities only on authorised networks Avoid interference with production systems Operate within local wireless and RF regulations Conduct testing in controlled environments Follow responsible disclosure practices Product Specification Table Chipset ESP32-C5 Wireless Capability 2.4GHz & 5GHz WiFi WiFi Standard WiFi 6 (802.11ax) Additional Protocols Zigbee (802.15.4), Thread Interfaces Flipper GPIO & SPI (header) Firmware (Preinstalled) ESPMarauder Firmware Support ESPMarauder, custom Expansion Hackitsune SPI modules Connectivity GPIO + USB Optional Features Terminal block connectors Compatibility Flipper Zero Key Features ESP32-C5 powered dual-band WiFi module Advanced ferrite-filtered separated power rail design Improved RF stability and reduced power noise under high wireless load Optimised for dual-band and WiFi 6 operation Supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless WiFi 6 (802.11ax) capable hardware Future-ready support for Zigbee and Thread Ships with ESPMarauder firmware pre-installed SPI expansion interface Compatible with Hackitsune module ecosystem Better stability when using external SPI expansion modules Disclaimer Devices capable of interacting with wireless networks must be used in accordance with local laws and regulations.
